Henri Coanda International Airport - in top 3 of European airports with highest air traffic growth in February
Henri Coanda International Airport ranks third among the European airports which have shown the best air traffic growth in February, as announced by Airports Council International-Europe, for the category of airports that have between 5 and 10 million passengers.
The first three places in this group were taken by Berlin Schonefeld Airport, Faro-Algarve (Portugal) and Bucharest Henri Coanda, followed by Porto and Larnaca (Cyprus) airports.
In February, the list of airports with over 25 million passengers ranks Istanbul Sabiha Gokcen, Barcelona El Prat, Dublin, Copenhagen and Madrid Barajas. The 10 to 25 million passengers category ranks Bonn Cologne, Alicante, Athens, Malaga and Edinburgh, while the category under 5 million passengers enlists: Ohrid (Macedonia), Santorini (Greece), Maribor (Slovenia), Kharkiv (Ukraine), Hammerfest (Norway).
In February 2016, Bucharest Henri Coanda International Airport recorded 681.185 passengers and 7.625 aircraft movements (landings and takeoffs). As compared to the same month last year, the number of passengers who transited AIHCB in February 2016 increased by 21.8%. The evolution of the passengers’ number on Bucharest Henri Coanda International Airport significantly exceeds the general European trend of 10,3%.
Furthermore, the number of aircraft movements increased on Henri Coanda International Airport, going beyond the European trend, which reached 7.2%. Thus, in February, the number of aircraft movements increased by 11.44% as compared to the same month last year.
