“Aurel Vlaicu” Bucharest Băneasa International Airport acceptance process completed
On January 14, 2022, Bucharest Airports National Company (CNAB) completed, according to the legal provisions, the last stage of the acceptance process at the end of the works on the investment objective “Rehabilitation and refurbishment of Bucharest Băneasa International Airport (AIBB-AV)”, which started on September 20, 2020. Besides the CNAB specialists, the Acceptance Commission included representatives of the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure, the State Inspectorate of Constructions and the Culture Commission of Bucharest City Hall.
We remind you that the works were completed, according to the initial plan, on November 11, 2021, and the value of the contract amounted to 66,629,040 lei without VAT (including miscellaneous and unforeseen expenses). The contractors of these wide-scope works were SC Bog’Art SRL (association leader), UTI Grup SA (associate), UTI FM (subcontractor); the construction warranty is set for 73 months since the end of the works.
In order to put the airport into operation, immediately after the acceptance at the end of the works, the preparative activities will be completed by the state institutions (Border Police, Transport Police, Counter-terrorism Brigade); the reopening of the terminal for passenger traffic is scheduled to take place at the end of March 2022, estimating, for a start, annual values of 400,000 passengers.
In order to implement the concept of city airport at Bucharest-Baneasa International Airport, several main objectives were set: the operation of private, charter and regular, domestic and regional flights, as well as the development of hangar facilities dedicated to general aviation (small aircraft) and even cargo facilities.
