Starting today, the tap water supplied at Henri Coanda Airport is potable and can be used by passengers. Water will also be provided free of charge at special stations located throughout all terminal areas.
“The water supplied at the airport was potable until 2012, when the legislation regarding drinking water quality parameters was changed. In the meantime, air traffic has doubled, and the issue of access to drinking water at the airport has become pressing. I have insisted on resolving this situation ever since I took office as CEO of CNAB almost five months ago. In this short period, we have swiftly completed all the necessary technical interventions, so that as of today, February 2, the tap water at Henri Coanda Airport is potable and microbiologically pure,” stated Bogdan Mindrescu, CEO of the National Company Bucharest Airports (CNAB).
The airport’s drinking water supply comes from its own deep wells and is distributed to passengers in the terminals through a pipeline network of approximately 23 km.
The National Company Bucharest Airports has already started the process of installing 14 drinking water stations connected to the airport’s network. These will include both fountains and bottle refill devices.
The water stations will be available both in public areas and in restricted-access areas of the terminals, including at boarding gates in the Departures area and at baggage claim belts in the Arrivals area. Thus, airport passengers will have access to free drinking water.
The first water station is scheduled to be installed in the Departures terminal later today.
At Baneasa Airport, two additional drinking water stations will be installed for passengers.
“We must always respond to the needs and requests of passengers. This has been one of my priorities, and I believe that Henri Coanda Airport must undergo a radical transformation and reach international standards of comfort and functionality,” added Bogdan Mindrescu, CEO of CNAB.
