Bucharest Băneasa – “Aurel Vlaicu” International Airport (BBU), among the European airports with the most dynamic passenger traffic growth

According to the latest ACI EUROPE report, Băneasa Airport stood out in the category of small airports, recording in September 2025 an impressive +136.7% increase in passenger traffic – 56,156, compared to 23,999 in September 2024.

This evolution highlights the dynamism of the aviation market in Bucharest and the wider region, as well as the growing interest in the services and destinations operated from Băneasa Airport. In a context where international traffic (+4.3%) continues to grow faster than demand on domestic routes (+1%), airports such as Băneasa are positioning themselves as direct beneficiaries of this trend.

Moreover, the number of passengers is expected to continue rising, supported by the constant launch of new routes and the expansion of flight frequencies operated from Băneasa Airport, thus strengthening its role within the Capital’s airport network.
