“All Is Old, Yet All Is New” at “Aurel Vlaicu” Bucharest Băneasa International Airport
In keeping with a long-standing tradition upheld for many years by Bucharest Airports National Company, the National Culture Day was celebrated through a tribute to the poet Mihai Eminescu. The event held on January 15, 2026 was organized this time at “Aurel Vlaicu” Bucharest Băneasa International Airport, whose story started at the beginning of the 20th century, making it one of the oldest airports in the world (the third oldest). The choice was therefore far from accidental: Băneasa Airport, which still preserves its historic aura today, helped us recreate, as faithfully as possible, a 19th-century atmosphere by arranging a corner evocative of Eminescu’s creative space. Passengers were thus pleasantly surprised to recognize the poet’s shadow floating “as light as a dream” and writing down a love letter addressed to his “sweet Veronica.”
The event took place under the title “All Is Old, Yet All Is New”, the verse that symbolically represents the identity of “Aurel Vlaicu” Bucharest Băneasa International Airport, a space where the past and the present coexist harmoniously, integrating cutting-edge technologies and current standards of safety and comfort, without erasing the historical imprint that gives its uniqueness.
