On Tuesday, October 8, Bucharest Airports National Company conducted an emergency training exercise that involved an aviation accident at "Henri Coandă" International Airport - fire on an aircraft.
The exercise was carried out in cooperation with the "Dealul Spirii" Bucharest-Ilfov Inspectorate for Emergency Situations.
The simulation of the emergency situation consisted of an intervention after a fire occurred in the hold of an A330 aircraft, which was in the process of taking off, with passengers on board.
The exercise aimed both at verifying the organizational capacity of each participating institution, as well as evaluating the ways of cooperation and coordination of intervention measures specific to an air accident, in order to save and protect human lives and material assets.
The emergency training exercise also involved teams from: UPU-SMURD Bucharest, Bucharest-Ilfov Ambulance Service, AIHCB Transport Police, Ilfov County Gendarmerie Inspectorate, Ilfov County Police Inspectorate, ROMATSA, HiSky Europe, Uplift Airport Services.
The tactical exercise did not impact the normal operations of the airport on AIHCB; all commercial flights arrived and departed as scheduled, and public access to the airport was not restricted.
