Air Traffic in Winter Conditions – Operations Conducted Safely

Passengers are kindly advised to arrive at the airport in due time and to continuously check their flight status directly with their airline.

At Henri Coandă International Airport Bucharest (AIHCB) and Bucharest Băneasa – Aurel Vlaicu International Airport (AIBB-AV), air traffic is operating under heavy snowfall and blizzard conditions, in the context of the yellow weather warning issued for this period.

Runways and taxiways are open and operational. There are no cancelled flights; however, delays may occur due to reduced visibility and aircraft de-icing operations. De-icing is the responsibility of the airlines and is carried out by handling agents. As a rule, it takes place after passenger boarding and may take longer in conditions of snowfall or strong winds.

Passenger recommendations:
Passengers are kindly advised to arrive at the airport in due time and to continuously check their flight status directly with their airline.

Winter operations are being carried out non-stop. Our teams are operating continuously with 58 specialized vehicles. In recent days, approximately 1.7 million square meters of airport surfaces have been cleared of snow, and a record amount of over 130,000 tons of snow has been removed to ensure safe flight operations.
