Bucharest Henri Coandă International Airport

Relay Day

“Relay Day” is an opportunity to celebrate children's rights, especially the right to participation; it’s a chance for the children to “take over” the job of a person they admire. With the support of a “mentor”, they and are taught about a profession that they dream of through an exciting and valuable experience.

Social responsibility programs undertaken by Bucharest Airports National Company attach great importance to getting involved in supporting and encouraging children from disadvantaged groups, therefore, the answer to the proposal of Terre des Hommes Foundation, on becoming a mentor for a day, could only be a positive one. We were delighted to support such a motivating and dynamic concept, so we accepted on the spot the invitation to take on the role of a mentor for Marius Frunză (11 years old) and show him the activity of Ground Control Department at Bucharest Henri Coandă International Airport. Completely involved in the airport experience, Marius paid attention to the explanations and instructions given by Octavian Berleanu, Head of Apron Control and followed them thoroughly. Radio and headphones on, he performed the specific movements perfectly, maneuvering the marshalling wands like a pro!
